Fuck Your Wickedness, Moral and Religious Arrogance

Image
We are afraid of being in constant fear that tightening of the tummy The brace The weight of the other shoe drop. We are exhausted of catching the wind that skewered race at onset The chase A handful of hot nothingness We are dizzy from running circles that distortion of nowhere-ness The fall The journey with no destination We are in pain at the thoughts of an end that gives no say on our interment The erasure The violence of our queerness….. We will rise from the grave roving to torment your remaining days The haunt Eroding your wicked sanctimonious souls

Language is Deeply Political

Image
On #IWD I edited an info-graph that for me often reflects the subjugation of women's contribution in society because we angle it through a male lens for social ratification.... And so because someone ( a man) asked (twice) 'what was the harm' of the unedited version I toyed with the idea of saying google is your friend mate  and moving on but then decided to repost the graphic and a small blurb...please indulge me.... “....Language is deeply political. A lot of what you are “not getting” is also from a place where there are no perceptible “ill intentions” in the unedited version of this info-graph.....but that is the genius-ness of sexism and ageism in language and in its ability to be pervasive, trivialising and undermining in its delivery. “Language is a great carrie r of stereotyping and great place to assert socially sanction power of what is a ‘normalised standard’ of genius-ness and this is what makes this post extremely condescending. Ageism or more ...

The Right to Live and Die by my Mistakes and Choices.

Its International Women’s Day today, lets talk and touch base... There is something to be said when one decides to move away from all social order norms and find their own path in life. Somehow, even within ‘progressive’ social spaces we tend to want a certain kind of uniformity and oneness… Often we impose a varied spectrum of rewards or sanctions to compel each other to conform to what is deemed ‘acceptable’ or ‘appropriate’…I have to say I have a deep respect for those who not only do not conform, but who also live by the same principles of not imposing their choices overbearingly on others – its effing hard to do this but nothing can be more sexier…living by the same standards to expect from others can transform this world - its pretty revolutionary... Think about it!   I want to be the one on this International Women’s Day to say that women need the space, room and opportunities to find deep inner understanding and self discovery. I say this explicitly because w...

Violence Should Not Live Here

For many women-identifying queer-folk, finding and folding in queer spaces is so emancipating. These are spaces to finally breathe, free from constant hostile heterosexist gaze and oppressiveness. In spaces like this love is radical and nurturing and fostered deliberately to undo tightly woven misogynistic arrays – It is women loving other women as a political act. These spaces quickly become a vital life-link for so many who have are broken and battled with rejection, isolation, prejudice, violence and shaming our bodies, identities of non-normative-ness. Queer spaces especially those embracing feminist ideals are viewed as sacred, intense and revolutionary.   More importantly, these spaces are considered safe. Queer spaces morph into our chosen family, our tribe and the place we metamorphose into a validated, transformed, empowered version of ourselves. Sadly, not all queer spaces are safe. Sometimes queer spaces end up replicating the same toxic oppressions...

Resist Oppression and Oppressing, or Die Trying.

self portrait - some Sunday, 2017 I just realised today how immeasurable time is. There is simply never enough time it seems to exhaustively say or do something anything right these days really.... I feel like life has whizzed past and there have been many vivid moments I recall, but on the whole it is hard to imagine my life at the face of four decades ... where did time go? It went like a flash.... As I stop and take a moment to appreciate life; I feel my bare heels sink and dig into the ground a little more firmly now. I am more protective and deeply appreciative of everything around me; the colors, the textures, the moments, the feelings. I say to myself, wow awesome, I wish I could stop and pay more attention to this now that I see how valuable and beautiful life's experience can be. Most times though, there are so many competing pressures nudging or pulling me aside that I quickly snap out of the musing. Some of you may know that I psyche up for night school ...
