Hello Body and co-Warrior
There comes a time in life when we stop ignoring the places that ache with discomfort and pay attention to what lies underneath.
What an unforgettable moment for me, at least because it involved unlearning the art of suppressing pain.
And whoa, what a journey this is!
So much comes up for me. Part of the enduring process has brought me to this moment, days before surgery...
When one is busy with ‘pain sense-making,’ it keeps our radio waves occupied…. Because of the noisiness of dis-ease, we seem distracted, less chatty and less responsive to those around us. Understanding and coping with afflictions take a lot, and now more than ever, I see the wisdom of taking a step back and unplugging as we navigate what forging ahead could look like.
Sending power, love and strength to those of us dealing and living with constant pain and discomfort, be it physical, mental, emotional or spiritual…. May you find pockets of space to alleviate suffering and experience healing.
Lastly, I offer tribute and gratitude to my body’s hurting bits, and despite this, remaining loyal and my constant companion.
Thank you, dear body, for being my relentless co-warrior, withstanding much even as you buckle in weariness and soreness. Thank you for holding me up this far, for the brief encounters of sure-footedness, and for the tastes of the joy of long walks, swims and hikes. Thank you for your endless courage and hope…
And soon as the hands, hearts and minds of the gifted medical team find remedies to fix us, I remain grateful to you compadre… in our new manifestation however it goes, may we stay close and continue to conspire to uncover the joys in living truthfully and connected…
